I admit that I posted this picture “just because” I like it. In a city full of infamous icons, it can be near impossible to find a somewhat fresh view. The photo shows something that is at the heart of the city, but is often overlooked. Hints: I looked up and saw this abstract arrangement. The subject is in public view every day, along many streets. OK most of you probably knew what it was right away. These are the famous cables that electrify the cable cars of San Francisco CA. Seemed like a perfect subject and pattern for black & white photography. Although man-made and technical, the cables form an organic grid that weaves historic districts together. Without them, the character of the city would not be the same. San Francisco… where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars.
